A Few of My Favorite Christmas Movies
So who is in the Christmas mood? Has it hit you that Christmas is in less than 20 days? Are you completely wacked out about shopping until you can't take anymore? Have you even started your shopping experience? What gets you in the spirit? Falling snow or Christmas lights hung on trees? Holiday advertisements on radio or on televisions with every other commercial? Holiday music played throughout Wallyworld or through speakers of your vehicle from the radio? Or do Christmas movies get you excited, anxious, happy, motivated? Am I asking too many questions for your brain to even register? Hello, anyone there?
Movies motivate me for the holidays. I look forward to them and enjoy the laughs they bring and closeness I feel amongst my family. There are some really good ones to see.
You have to love Youtube. I found all of my favorite movies there and here are some clips from each one. Enjoy!
My all time favorite. This movie is hysterical and just epitomizes family Christmas chaos! Chevy Chase's, A Christmas Vacation, 1989.
Another funny one starring the infamous Steve Martin and beloved John Candy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Yooper and my dad love the part during this movie with Owen, perhaps a pig farmer saying, "That baby came out sideways. She didn't scream or nothin". They laugh like hooligans every time. Such nonsense I tell you! Here's a short clip.
Here is Will Ferrell in Elf. Fun movie for the kids to laugh along with. I just can't get over him in those tight little green tights!
How can you forget this 1983 classic, A Christmas Story? This is a great one.
Ahhh, one of my favorite childhood movies! I love to sit down and watch this one with my kidlets every holiday season. I much prefer this animated movie to Jim Carrey's version for some reason. Seeing the Grinch, his dog and Whovilles looking like live people instead of animated, just creeps me out a bit. It is all too weird. I do love Faith Hill's "Where are you Christmas" song that came from that movie.
So these are a few of my holiday movie favorites. They make me want to sit down with a plate of frosted cut out sugar cookies and a tall glass of milk, or maybe eggnog and giggle, snort, laugh, hoot and holler throughout the movie scenes. They make me reminisce through year's past and how these movies still stay alive each and every year and stay so popular among all ages.
Do you have any favorites? Do you like to curl up in front of a good ole' Christmas movie?

Oh - I love snow snow snow for Christmas! And I haven't even started Xmas shopping yet. sigh!
Films? I like the Santa Clause and that Christmas film with Attenborough and Tim Allen (can't for the life of me remember what it is called). The Snowman is short but sweet, too.
What a lovely post! Thank you for sharing all of those clips... I too am a fan of all of them. I vividly remember having to drag a friend of mine to see Elf. He was convinced it would be a "horrible movie, not worth seeing at all!" and he ended up laughing harder than I did. The rest of your selected movies are great, too.
I cannot seem to get past all of the old classics - Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jack Frost and Rudolph. The technology and "animation" are so outdated, but they never seem to lose their charm. Plus, I have always LOVED that people like Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire narrated! I always keep an eye out for them every holiday season.
Take care!
Alicia
I am done with all things winter. Snow, shopping and Christmas. Although I do love to transform the house into Christmas. It really is the only holiday that the house takes on a warm feeling.
We watch A Christmas Story almost every weekend and then all day on Christmas Eve, It is my DH's favorite.
I really enjoy 'The Santa Claus' movies. with Tim Allen.

My favorite as to be baking and then sharing the goodies with neighbors and friends.
